Front-runneritis
Posted by: irisbAs more politicians offically announce their candidacy in the 2008 Presidential campaign, I am reminded of a sadly funny term I heard on a radio show.
Front-runneritis - A universal phenomenon that occurs over the course of a campaign trail, when a politician slowly drifts to the middle and gradually begins to use very "safe" language in speeches and other public appearances. A normally vocal and politically sure candidate will suddenly become very wishy-washy out of a fear of alienating voters. A severe case if front-runneritis will result in a candidate apologizing for statements that otherwise would never get a second thought.
We can already see excellent examples of front-runneritis right now.
Obama apologizes for taking a stand on the war in Iraq: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=2872135&page=1

One of the biggest complaints of any recent political race has been the blurred lines between political parties. For the 2008 Presidential race, I would love to see someone really stick to their guns and stay true to their fundamental ideals, even if it raises a few eyebrows. Of course, I'll probably make fun of them no matter what, but at least I can make fun of them for making an actual statement rather than making fun of their use of super-safe political jargon BS!
It's a start!
Posted by: irisbGlad to see a soley political blog where I can get the latest scoop on what is sure to be a monumental presidential campaign! Here are a few candidate websites I found:
To learn more about Hilary Clinton, visit http://www.hillaryclinton.com/. (I wonder what she had to pay to buy that url! Surely someone thought to buy it when she first entered the White House.)
To learn more about Barak Obama, visit http://www.barackobama.com/. (I doubt that url was taken.)
To learn more about John Edwards, visit http://johnedwards.com/ .
I will post more links as I find them. I'm am having a surprisingly difficult time finding a truly impartial website that offers decent, relevent content on only the 2008 race. Sure, there are news websites that have political sections, but I am still looking for that one really great source that is devoted entirely to politics. Hey, wait a minute....maybe we'll create that for ourselves right here! At least it's a start!
